Recovery
Matted fur and groggy purrs -
Is that a cat?
Hidden in the mess of quilts
High on pain relief?
Happy to be home again
But struggling
To regain his dignity -
Royal head of house!
Clean those paws and shine those shoes!
Still smell like vet?
Gauze and rubbing alcohol
Mussing up the groove
Waiting to get sutures out
Routine awaits
Sleep then eat then sleep some more
Laziness resumes
