Book Review

The Nine Emotional Lives of Cats: A Journey Into the Feline Heart
by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson

The Nine Emotional Live of Cats is not a typical sappy cat book with tired quotes and pictures of kittens in tea cups. Jeffrey Masson provides a unique perspective of our feline friends, leaving us to ponder the true nature of cats. He lives a life any cat lover would love to have, observing his kitties as they prance along the shore of his remote ocean-front home in New Zealand. However, his literary talent turns my jealousy toward admiration. I recommend this heartwarming book as a companion to a day of lounging on the sofa with your kitties and a cup of quality hot cocoa.

Fuzzy Advice

Take a nap. Whine for food. Be lazy.
Have someone else clean up after you.
Don't care. Paw the blanket. Scratch the chair.
The kitchen counter is your domain.
The best toys are twist ties and those plastic milk
      carton caps.
Ignore any toy bought from the pet store.
Be playful when it's convenient. People make good
      springboards.
Watch the bird. Eat the fish.
Always have a cave to hide in.
Purr real loud. Yawn. Bite the hand that feeds you.
Get in the way. Take your time getting out of the way.
Mark everything as yours.
Make the least of your day.

Be content.
